What factors lead to the rubbing resistance of color fastness of denim? The following is a detailed analysis of this issue:
1. The impact of floating colors:
During the friction process between cotton denim fabric and other objects, the color shedding or the degree of staining of the friction object are influenced by many factors. There are two ways for the color to fall off or stain: one is that the dye on the denim falls off or fades and stains on the surface of the friction object; Another type is the detachment of dyed fibers, which adhere to the surface of the friction object. In practice, dye shedding is the main cause of staining. Therefore, floating color is the main factor affecting the color fastness to rubbing.
2. Combination of dyes and fibers
The better the combination of dyes and fibers, the better the color fastness to friction, and vice versa. The binding between fibers and dyes mainly relies on hydrogen bonds.
3. Structure and surface smoothness of denim
Because the organizational structure of denim is very different, resulting in different friction factors, the friction force borne by dyes attached to the surface of denim is different, and the amount of dyes shed and adsorbed on dry or wet white cloth is also different. The greater the friction coefficient of denim surface, the greater the amount of dye shed and absorbed, that is, the worse the color fastness to rubbing, otherwise, the better the color fastness to rubbing. For denim with the same yarn count and density, the longer the radial or weft floating line of denim, the smoother the cloth surface, the smaller the friction coefficient, and the better the color fastness to friction.
4. The effect of singeing
The singeing effect is good, the denim surface is smooth and clean, the fiber hairiness is less, and the friction coefficient of the denim surface is smaller, which is conducive to improving the color fastness to friction.
5. Desizing degree
If the size on denim cannot be removed completely, chemicals will not easily permeate into the fabric in the subsequent mercerizing and other processes, resulting in poor mercerizing and other processes and poor water absorption. For this reason, in the subsequent color matching process, the dye can not be well soaked into the interior of denim and firmly combined with the denim fiber, but has strong reaction and bonding elasticity with the size, so that the size and dye fall off together during dry and wet friction, resulting in poor color fastness to friction.
6. Mercerization
After mercerization, the adsorption capacity and chemical reactivity of cotton fibers increase, leading to an increase in dye adsorption. In addition, the fading and fading of cotton fibers after mercerization are more severe, and the floating color is reduced, which is beneficial for improving color fastness to friction.
